Set Up
For I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked
Purpose of the Activity: To learn to be more like Christ, to develop compassion and learn to help those who have needs, to develop a testimony that Jesus lived, died, and was resurrected
Have a poster with a picture of Christ and the words "Come Follow Me" outside the primary room door. This poster will be outside, leading the children to the Primary entrance so they don't see the footprints. The door with be propped open and welcoming.
Have footprints which lead in a circle from the second door of the nursery to the stage door by the drinking fountain, from the second stage door into the gym, from the gym doors closest to the RS room to the RS room by the drinking fountain, from the RS room doors by the Bishop's office to the first doors of the nursery. At least have a pair of footprints in each room before each door opens out to the hallway. Estimated number of footprints needed--??
Food--fruit cut up--melons, grapes--all in separate large bowls so children who can't have one kind of fruit can easily grab the fruit they can have without mixing it up with the fruit they can't eat. Serve with ladles into cups. Also, fruit Newtons. Forks and napkins, cups of ice water. Need ice!
9 am. Start out in the Primary Room. Sing the opening song "Come, Follow Me" (#116), have a prayer.
Primary Pres welcome the children and introduce the activity. Divide children into 4 groups. Label each group with a letter. Have each leader take her group to their first room (see rotation schedule).

*Nursery--blind man healed--(Jessica) wear blindfolds and think about how it must be for those who are blind--compassion for blind--play what's in the bag? figure out what you're touching without using vision. Play how many steps? direct someone to a treasure by giving verbal directions. Have a game where one person is blindfolded and one person can see. Have different children help the blindfolded child compete in the game.
*RS Room--deaf man healed--(Charlene) wear earplugs or mouth words without talking. Then discuss what it must be like not to be able to hear, then learn the sign language for "Love One Another"
*Gym--lame man healed--(the Irvins) talk to someone with a cane or wheelchair, walk with crutches, ride in wheelchairs, learn to help people who have a hard time walking, Charlene will bring some crutches and wheelchairs, I will bring a pair of crutches. Sing "I'll Walk With You" CS p.140.
*Stage--Sick person healed--(Nanci) remember times when children were sick, then make get well and we miss you cards, need card stock, crayons, markers, pencils
*Primary Room--Jesus dying and resurrected--(Amanda) listen to someone read the story of the crucifixion and look at pictures of the crucifixion and other events. Mary pantomimes her experience. She exits when the story says they took Jesus' body and buried it. Returns a few minutes later and bear her testimony of the resurrected Lord. Close with "Jesus Has Risen" (CS p. 70) and have a closing prayer.
